In a sense, even though it was first launched in May 1999, the Edgeworthstown Parish Scrapbook could be considered the first project for the Mostrim Heritage and Historical Society. A look at the Credits for that site lists some of the people who have been active in gathering material for the Society's book about the Parish and both have been co-ordinated by John McGerr Sr. and have been based on ideas put forward by Monsignor Patrick Earley

Parish Book
The first and probably the most ambitious of the Society's projects is a book about the Parish. Several Parishes in the county have produced books and Mostrim felt that their turn was due. It has certainly been a learning experience for the Society as they gradually realised the enormity of the work that had to be undertaken.
The objectives the Society set themselves were as follows:-
- to feature the history of houses and shops in the Parish back at least to 1901, using the 1901 Census as a reference point
  - to feature a history of local organisations and those who helped run them
  - to feature photos of local people and places, to feature as many families past and present as possible, to feature local organisations, schools, religious, people at work and play
A large variety of material has been gathered, with over twelve hundred photos scanned. While work is still ongoing the Society have named April 30th as the last day for accepting submissions and hope to confirm a publication date in the near future.

Future Projects
While it is still early to be more than vague about possible future projects, the Society has expressed the wish that any photos that do not make the book, due to limits of space and cost, will probably be made available in another medium, perhaps a CD-ROM.
