In the Spring of 1999 Monsignor Patrick Earley asked the Mostrim Parish Council to begin collecting material for a history of the Parish. The Project was to be coordinated by John McGerr Sr. who had himself being collecting material and photos about the Parish for a number of years.

The first fruits of this work by John was the Edgeworthstown Parish Scrapbook, a website featuring photos and information about the Parish and it people. Fresh material was slow to accumulate and in late 2001 both John and Monsignor Earley decided that it was time to form a seperate committee and so in early 2002 the Society was formed. Material already gathered plus new material has been compiled and the Society are working hard on their first project, a book about the Parish
