Schools before the famine
Below are a list of schools that were in the parish in 1827 and 1835 along with the perosn that 'kept' them. Sadly we have no other details about these schools, such as their locations(with the exception of the 1827 list) or pupils.

Edgeworthstown Masters: Christy Cudmore(Protestant) Daniel Greham (Catholic) Hentietta Thies (Protestant)Good slated house with playgrounds and ball courts.
Lonagrish(Lisnagrish?): John Keary (Catholic) Mud walled thatched house
Lacken: Philip Dolan (Catholic) Mud wall cabin, cost 4 shillings to build
Curry; John Gaynor (Catholic) Mud walled thatched house
1835 (presumably P stands for Protestant and C for Catholic in brackets below)
